LatviaUsually only 5 to 7 percent of people could be entrepreneurs, because it is a hard job to be an entrepreneur, observes Ilmars Kreituss, Dr. chem., Vice Rector, Riga International School of Economics and Business Administration (RISEBA), Latvia (www.riseba.lv). But the percentage of students of the master’s program in his school becoming entrepreneurs is more than 70, he informs, during an interaction organised with the visiting Latvian delegation at the Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI).

What is the secret of such a high number of RISEBA’s graduates taking up entrepreneurship? “We have a business incubator, where the student tries to do his own business in the university,” explains Dr Kreituss. “And companies, both large and small, partner with the school, and offer support by taking part in lectures and workshops, and acting as tutors in the business incubator.”
